To All Government MPs:
How can you and your government look upon the images of mass misery in Gaza and stay silent?
You and your government still refuse to condemn the daily outrages against the Palestinian people.
"If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor"
Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
For 18 months you and your government have chosen Israel’s side – the side of the racist, genocidal state of Israel.
By failing to speak out all government MPs are complicit in this genocide.
Please respond urgently and without meaningless platitudes.

Auckland Business Chamber lines up for genocide
These people are the board members of the Auckland Business Chamber which is collaborating with the racist, genocidal state of Israel to promote business and profits in both countries.
Charlotte Parkhill, Ross George, Chris Carr, Fred Hellaby, Peter Thompson, Rakesh Nauhria, Mike Lightfoot, Priti Ambani and Jenny Liu.
These people think it’s OK to promote business with the racist, apartheid state of Israel. Even worse they are doing this while Israel commits genocide against the Palestinian people of Gaza. Mass killings and mass starvation are no obstacle to making a profit.
Shame on them all!
We are calling on them to immediately cancel their collaboration event with Israel.

Auckland Business Chamber Board members
Kia ora,
I was shocked to see you are promoting business opportunities with the racist, genocidal state of Israel.
Cancel your involvement in this event immediately!
Last July the International Court of Justice declared Israel’s occupation of Palestine illegal and called for the end of any dealings which assist Israel to maintain its illegal occupation.
Beside the appalling promotion of deals with Israel to make profit from their occupation, this racist state is involved in genocide as I write.
Cancel your involvement in this event immediately!
Please respond without delay.

An interesting approach from Stuff
Around the world news agencies are, after 19 months, confronting the truth that they have failed to adequately report the Israeli carnage in Gaza. Some, like the Zionist controlled BBC, are just doubling-down and reporting even more outrageous Israeli lies as plausible when there is clear and multiple evidence against the claims. The BBC/TVNZ waffle reporting this week on the blatant "aid centre" attack by Israel in Gaza is an example
Other agencies say they want to do better and one has asked PSNA to help.
Stuff, which publishes The Press and The Post and most daily newspapers aside from the Herald and the Otago Daily Times, has contacted us with this interesting message;
"The war in Gaza continues, yet every single day many of our readers turn away.
We get it. The scale of suffering is overwhelming for many. But it’s our job to show up and show you what is happened on the ground.
This is why we’re going to publish a single image from Gaza every morning, showing you a snapshot of what the people there face.
Obviously this will not replace our broader reporting, but we hope it can give you a simple and personal way into the ongoing story.
If you have any suggestions around ongoing reporting on Gaza, you can email us at newstips@stuff.co.nz”
Publishing a picture a day is a brave idea. The NZ Israeli lobby will be outraged. They know the enormous power of the images of what Israel is doing in Gaza on the public here. They will demand at least equal space for Israelis. We hope Stuff stand up against the standard Israeli lobby trope that Israelis are always the only real victims and it's antisemitic to deny it. Let's see.
The request for suggestions is an offer to PSNA supporters to feed into the reporting. Feel free to send information about local PSNA associated events. For those of you who pig-out online, send some suggestions to Newstips on where there are alternative news stories which the usual Stuff agencies fall to cover.
Again, let's see if anything changes. But the fact that Stuff has approached PSNA is promising.

Quotes of the week
"[W]ithin this horror, Amed keeps witnessing something profoundly human – he’s reminded of Steinbeck’s line in The Grapes of Wrath: 'If you’re ever in trouble or hurt or in need, go to poor people. They’re the only ones that will help you'.”
“We’re in the last moments before things totally collapse.”

Letters in our papers this week
The horrendous suffering and mass killing of Palestinians can no longer be ignored and our newspapers have begun publishing some letters. Here is a selection of letters from the last week. Please look to write yourself or encourage those who get a paper to write…
Gaza and Palestine: A Christian call to action
Christian leaders in mainstream Christian churches have been absent from the public condemnation of Israel’s genocide in Gaza but here is the view from most Christians themselves.
A joint statement from Pax Christi Aotearoa New Zealand
and Aotearoa Christians for Peace in Palestine
We welcome the recent statement from the Catholic Bishops of Aotearoa New Zealand calling for hope and prayers to end the horrific wars in Gaza and other places.
Hope and prayer are essential starting points. Our Christian spirituality is grounded in prayer which connects us with God. This gives us hope that God is with us and that we can take action to end injustice and war. We have seen this in the action taken to stop the war in Vietnam, and to end the racist apartheid system in South Africa. At this time of so much death and destruction in Palestine, it is important for us to be people of hope, for without hope we will give up and do nothing to resist evil.
Catholic Social Teaching from our Popes and Bishops calls on us to analyse situations of war and injustice, and to organise with others to take effective action to end them.
The book of James expresses this powerfully:
“Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.“ James 2:15-17.
Jesus took action in the temple when he encountered grave sin. There is a lot of money-counting behind this conflict by weapons manufacturers and other corporations.
As Fr Gabriel, Catholic parish priest in Gaza recently put it :
“So, we pray, and we ask people to pray and work for peace”. [Our emphasis]
The situation in Gaza is horrific.
Over two million people in Gaza, half of whom are children, are being deliberately starved by the Israeli blockade on food, water, and other necessities for life.[1] Israel continues to kill civilians, including children, journalists, healthcare workers and aid workers, destroy hospitals, and deny the entry of life-saving medical supplies. [2] The death toll in Gaza from direct and indirect deaths was estimated to be 186,000 or more in July 2024. [3] By now, it will be even higher.
Since the International Court of Justice deemed Israel’s actions in Gaza a plausible genocide in January 2024,[4] the evidence for genocide has become overwhelming. Human Rights Watch, [5] Amnesty International,[6] Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors without Borders),[7] genocide researchers [8], experts at the United Nations [9], and the Quaker Church in Britain [10] have all concluded that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza. As party to the United Nations Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, New Zealand has an obligation to act. [11]
In September 2024, New Zealand voted along with 123 other United Nations member states to support a General Assembly resolution calling for Israel to withdraw fully from the Occupied Palestinian Territories, including Gaza and the West Bank.[12] This resolution called for member states to stop trading with, and impose sanctions on, any person or organisation involved in maintaining the illegal Israeli occupation of the Palestinian Territories. The resolution further called for investigations and prosecutions to ensure Israel is held to account for its violations of international law, and for Israel to pay reparations for all damage, loss or injury inflicted upon the Palestinian people.
We encourage all Christians and people of good will to:
Learn more about the situation in Gaza and the other occupied Palestinian Territories.
Pray for peace and action to end this grave injustice.
Donate to charities who are helping the people of Gaza, such as Caritas, World Vision, Médecins Sans Frontières, and Bethlehem University.
Join organisations working for peace and justice in Palestine.
Join peaceful protests.
Write and talk to politicians asking them to take urgent action.
We call for
An immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza, and the release of all hostages and prisoners of war on both sides, including the many Palestinians held without trial in Israeli prisons.
An immediate resumption of full humanitarian aid into Gaza, under the control of the UN and genuine humanitarian agencies.
An end to Israel’s aggressive actions in the West Bank and an end to the Illegal Israeli settlements there.
Suspending all military support to Israel, including the supply of weapons and services.
Implementing the International Criminal Court arrest warrants and supporting the work of the Court.
Banning all trade and business operations with illegal Israeli settlements.
Rejecting all forms of anti-Semitism and Isalmophobia.
The need for targeted sanctions on Israel
In 1987, the NZ Catholic Bishops Conference called for sanctions on South Africa, to help end the racist system of apartheid. Those sanctions were instrumental in peacefully ending apartheid.
The Netanyahu government has continually rejected international calls for an end to its violent aggression. The time has come for the international community to apply carefully targeted sanctions on Israel to end the violence, and to support the many good Israeli people working to the end the war and to bring justice to the long suffering Palestinian people.
We support the prophetic call for targeted sanctions on Israel from the Church of Norway :
"At this time, it is also necessary to increase pressure on the Israeli government to halt what appears to be an intentional policy of ethnic cleansing. All legitimate political and economic instruments, including various forms of sanctions that are typically used in response to violations of international law, must be considered. It is the responsibility and duty of political authorities to assess and implement the most effective measures in such a situation.” https://www.indcatholicnews.com/news/52402
We support Chloe Swarbrick’s Member’s Bill, the Unlawful Occupation of Palestine Sanctions Bill, which seeks to enact what New Zealand voted to support at the United Nations. Using the existing framework that New Zealand used to sanction Russia, the Bill will enable sanctions to be imposed on people, assets and services linked to the Israeli government and military. [13]
We encourage you to write to your local MP to support this bill.

May almighty God work through us to bring justice and peace to the Holy Land, where Jesus the prince of peace once walked, and today calls us to walk with him again.

And a message from a Baptist New Zealander
A great podcast published yesterday on the Baptist NZ page helping people who claim to be Christians to realise if they are accidental Zionists. The main guy talking is called Philip Church and did a doctorate on Zionism and is a lecturer at Laidlaw Bible College. He wants people to understand how awful Zionism is and that it is not even in the Bible here

Keep spreading the message about the Genocide Hotline!
Remember possible action for local groups
For groups affiliated to PSNA we suggest the following actions could be taken at any time in support of this campaign
Asking your local backpacker accommodation to display the poster and draw it to the attention of any Israeli soldiers here on “rest and recreation” from the genocide.
Pasting the hotline poster (use the version in this newsletter which includes a contact email) around the vicinity of backpacker venues in your local area. This is already happening in some areas.
Hand out flyers to people in the vicinity of your local backpackers
Contact us on the hotline if you come across Israeli soldiers

Are you able to donate a cup of coffee a month to the campaign?
We will need some serious money to make our campaign as effective as possible. For example, we will need somewhere in the vicinity of $25,000 to bring speakers to New Zealand over the next year and organise large public meetings to help spread the message.
You can help. Are you able to donate a cup of coffee a month to the campaign? In other words, can you afford to make an automatic payment of $5 per month to support the Palestinian struggle? (If you can afford more that would be great!)

In Occupied Palestine daily newsletter – an invitation to subscribe from Leslie Bravery
Because of mainstream news media complicity, daily headlines and commentary only occasionally ever mention the relentless Israeli violence in Palestine, not even the frequent air strikes!
However, daily news and statistics regarding the violence Palestinians are forced to live under are regularly reported on in the “In Occupied Palestine daily newsletter”, sourced and compiled for easy reading and correlation chiefly from the Palestinian Monitoring Group's daily situation reports.
The In Occupied Palestine daily newsletter continues to be circulated, by email, worldwide to subscribers only, as it has been over the last two decades.
Please contact lesliebravery@icloud.com if you also wish to become a subscriber.
