The law should be applied equally
Kia ora Mr Chambers,
The law should be applied equally to everyone and yet the police are refusing to prosecute a pro-Israel supporter for wilful damage for a tyre slashing spree in Raglan earlier this year.
At the same time police have prosecuted five people in Christchurch for wilful damage for placing small stickers onto the window of the central Christchurch business last year.
This is unbelievable bias.
If the situation were reversed and a pro-Israel supporter had their tyres slashed the police, media and politicians would be in a frenzy claiming it as a violent, anti-semitic attack which endangered Jewish lives
I’m asking you to prosecute the tyre slasher.

Your KiwiSaver may be funding violations of Palestinian rights
Important message from Barry Coates – founder and CEO of Mindful Money
(Website: mindfulmoney.nz. Join our mailing list here)
The judgement won by PSNA forcing the NZ Super Fund to review its investments in four companies that violate the rights of Palestinian people was important. It also sends a warning across the bow of KiwiSaver and other investment funds funds. You may not realise it, but your KiwiSaver might be invested in those four companies.
Mindful Money is a charity that tracks investment in KiwiSaver, including companies on the United Nations Human Rights Council database of companies involved in the building and maintenance of illegal Israeli settlements on Palestinian land. Our analysis shows there is even more invested in the four companies by KiwiSaver funds than by the NZ Super Fund.
So what can you do? Check your fund – it is free, quick and easy to do so. Go to www.mindfulmoney.nz, type in the name of your KiwiSaver fund into the Fund Checker, click the button ‘Show Companies’ and look for the companies with an OPT symbol. If you see any of those companies in your fund, write to your fund manager (the address is on your KiwiSaver statement) and tell them you don’t want your savings going to those companies.
If you want to shift to a fund that doesn’t invest in those companies, use the Fund Finder to find a Mindful Ethical Fund. You can also use the same website for non-KiwiSaver managed funds.
It’s your money. Don’t let it be used to fund companies that violate human rights.

Palestine solidarity pickets at Fiji High Commission and Consulate in Fiji, Auckland and Wellington
PSNA is to picket the Fijian High Commission in Wellington and Consulate in Auckland tomorrow at 12.30pm (June 2) to protest at Israel opening its first Pacific Islands’ Embassy in Suva.
The Palestine Solidarity Network Aotearoa says it is acting in solidarity with a call from the Fijians for Palestine Solidarity Network in Fiji.
Israeli Foreign Minister, Gideon Sa’ar is scheduled to cut the ribbon to open the embassy at 5pm.
PSNA spokesperson Rinad Tamimi says while the rest of the world is distancing itself from Israel for its genocide in Gaza, illegal settlements on the West Bank and invasion of Lebanon, Fiji is deepening its ties with the Netanyahu regime.
“It’s partly personal. Fiji Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka is grateful is for Israeli support for his coup in 1987, when the rest of the world were distancing themselves from the Rabuka led military junta,” Tamimi says.
“But it’s mostly the result of intense diplomatic activity by Israel throughout the Pacific, its determined attempts to reverse the trend around the world to isolate Israel and its institutions.”
“Israel is working with United States Christian Zionists to make the Pacific an Israeli pond, to deliver votes in the United Nations and embassies in Jerusalem.”
In the September 2024 landmark United Nations General Assembly resolution to order Israel out of the Palestinian Occupied Territory within 12 months, no fewer than seven Pacific countries, including Fiji, voted against, out of a world total of 14 votes against.
“It’s the same Pacific slant with embassies in illegally Occupied Jerusalem. The world would locate all their embassies on in Tel Aviv, because they didn’t recognise Israeli sovereignty over East Jerusalem. Then Trump opened a US embassy in Jerusalem in 2018.”
“Since then, only Kosovo, Honduras and Guatemala have joined the US. That is, except for the Pacific – Papua New Guinea and Fiji are now in Jerusalem and they are soon to be joined by Samoa,” Tamimi says.
“It’ll be Samoa’s only country post outside the Pacific. Is Israel paying for it?”
Police double standard on Palestine
PSNA media release 3 June 2026: A link to the release is here
PSNA is demanding police charge a pro-Israel tyre slasher, after he slashed two tyres on a Palestine supporter’s car in Raglan during a pro-Palestine protest in mid April.
Palestine Solidarity Network Aotearoa says Police told the victim they will not charge the Auckland businessman saying he has admitted he did it, apologised and has agreed to pay for the damage.
PSNA Campaign Co-ordinator John Minto says the Police say the tyre slasher has no criminal record and the victim has never been a victim before so it doesn’t reach the threshold for prosecution.
“Police have told the complainant they can’t prosecute because it doesn’t meet the Solicitor General’s guidelines for doing so.”
“We are flabbergasted at the double standard. Five of our supporters in Christchurch were charged with wilful damage last year after placing small stickers onto the window of a central city business”.
“One of these people appears in court tomorrow in Christchurch to face police charges of wilful damage”
“Since when is slashing tyres given a free pass but putting stickers on a window demands prosecution?” says Minto.
“A large PSNA delegation met with senior police in Wellington earlier this year to discuss what we have seen as an obvious police bias in going softly on pro-Israel physical violence and property damage while taking heavy-handed action at the mildest protests against the genocide in Gaza.
“The police denied any bias in their policing, but this tyre-slasher case underlines the shocking prejudice at some police levels.”
“They are taking their blatantly prejudiced approach from similar outrageous police responses to protests in Australia and the UK.”
“Letting off this tyre slasher just adds to the litany of complaints of systemic police prejudice against Palestinians and Palestine supporters in New Zealand.”
“If the situation were reversed and a pro-Israel supporter had their tyres slashed the police, media and politicians would be in a frenzy claiming it as a violent, anti-semitic attack which endangered Jewish lives”
“We have written to the Police Commissioner Richard Chambers to demand prosecution of the tyre slasher.”
Background
The well-known Auckland businessman had approached two women who had arrived in Raglan carrying Palestinian flags for a protest and offered money to them to fly an Israeli flag instead. They declined and joined the protest. Returning to their car an hour later they found one of the tyres was flat and had been slashed. The following day a second tyre was found flat – both tyres had to be replaced.
If the second tyre had blown out during the drive back from Raglan to Hamilton the situation could have been much worse.
The victim lodged a complaint with police and then using CCTV footage from the local supermarket was able to identify the person responsible from the company name on the car of the offender. The victim’s husband contacted the man through social media and after initial denials he phoned the victim’s husband and admitted responsibility and offered to pay for the damage once he was sent images from the CCTV cameras.
All this information was passed to police who last week contacted the complainant to say they would not be prosecuting the man.

OOPS - Juliet Moses slips up – “700,000 (Palestinians) expelled” during the Nakba
In a recent interview with the anti-Palestinian racist host of the Platform, Sean Plunket, New Zealand Jewish Council spokesperson Juliet Moses slipped up and admitted Palestinians were expelled during the Nakba. Israel always denies expulsion with the lie that Palestinians fled voluntarily. She also criticises the new “Palestine free from the river to the sea” political party and the democratic state it’s campaigning for.

Palestinians expelled – 2:51
Sean Plunket:
“Okay. So, what are the principles of the free Palestine from the river to the sea party, which I understand you can join for just $2. They only need 500 members. They'll probably get there”
Juliet Moses:
“That's right. Well, I you know, I've looked it up. Sorry, I'm old and have to put my glasses on. They essentially they want Israel to not exist anymore. They want a binational, secular and democratic, with full and equal citizenship for all with ethnic and religious rights protected in a democratic constitution state.
So in other words, they oh and they also want all Palestinians to be given the so-called right of return. There are, because of the fact that Palestinians are the only people in the world who inherit refugee status down the generations, there are now from the original let's say 700,000 who are expelled from, or fled during the war, the initial the war of independence as it's called in 1948, there are now somewhere like 10 times that number of the original number. So they want them all to be able to live (in Palestine)”

Are you able to donate a cup of coffee a month to the campaign?
We will need some serious money to make our campaign as effective as possible. For example, we will need somewhere in the vicinity of $25,000 to bring speakers to New Zealand over the next year and organise large public meetings to help spread the message.
You can help. Are you able to donate a cup of coffee a month to the campaign? In other words, can you afford to make an automatic payment of $5 per month to support the Palestinian struggle? (If you can afford more that would be great!)
