Rally List
A big thank you to everyone
What a fantastic turnout around the country for the National Day of Action for Palestine on Saturday. The rallies and marches in all centres across the country.
Thank you to all of you who helped to make this day such a tremendous success.
It is increasing the pressure on the government for sanctions which is our main demand and the only way to force an end to the genocide.
We also had widespread mainstream media reportage - some of the mainstream media links are here:

Quote for this week
“After I reported live on civilians collapsing from hunger, I was directly targeted with public incitement by the army’s spokesperson.
This is an attempt to silence us—and to cover up a genocide unfolding in real time.
I call on international officials, human rights defenders, and global media to speak out and share this message.
Your voice can help stop the targeting of journalists and protect the truth.”

Help reverse Pacifica voting at the United Nations
Seven negative Pacifica votes made up half of the whole world’s 14 votes to oppose a demand that Israel withdraw from the Occupied Palestinian Territory, in the General Assembly of the United Nations in New York a year ago.
Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Tuvalu, Tonga, Nauru, Federated States of Micronesia and Palau, sided with Israel, and against 124 counties (including New Zealand) who voted for the resolution.
Samoa, Kiribati, and Vanuatu abstained, though Vanuatu was one of 79 country signatories to a declaration in support of the International Criminal Court when the US and Israel questioned its jurisdiction. Vanuatu also made a submission to the ICJ in May 2025.
The General Assembly will meet again next month and will consider Israel’s total failure to comply.
In Gaza the genocidal carnage continues - Israeli troops are preparing to reinvade Gaza City to ethnically cleanse a million people and Israeli aircraft are still terror bombing a famine-devastated community throughout the enclave.
In the Occupied West Bank, Israeli settlers are freely shooting and lynching Palestinians. Israel’s Knesset has just voted to annex the West Bank. Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich has announced plans for building E1, a settlement strategically designed to sever the West Bank irreparably into two parts.
In Prime Minister Bejamin Netanyahu has just revived proposals for a Greater Israel. That would entail an Israeli invasion of all of Israel’s neighbours and the extinction of at least Lebanon and Jordan, and most of Syria, who in Israel’s eyes have no right to exist.
PSNA is writing to the diplomatic representatives of the Pacifica countries who voted against, or abstained from, the conscience of the world in the United Nations last year.
We have pointed to all of their being members of the IV Geneva Convention, and in the case of Fiji, Tuvalu, and Nauru to also being signatories of the Genocide Convention.
It would be great if PSNA supporters individually joined, along with other Palestine support organisations through Aotearoa.
Below is a letter PSNA has sent to the various high commissions. You can copy and paste this letter or change to suit yourself. Subject: Urgent Appeal to Provide Protected Aid Convoys to Gaza
Kia ora __________,
I write to you with the utmost concern about the escalation of the humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip and the obligation and opportunity of your country to take immediate and effective measures to prevent it becoming even worse.
More than two million people are actively targeted by Israel for starvation, bombing and ethnic cleansing.
Israel occupies most of Gaza. It bombs the rest of the region with scarcely believable increasing ferocity every day after what soon will be two years of attacks.
Israeli troops are shooting desperate and starving Palestinians in the four so called ‘feeding stations’ run by Israel and the US in Gaza.
People are starving to death in increasing numbers. Many thousands more will inevitably die in a famine from the consequences of a blockade which began when Israel broke its ceasefire deal in March.
While the official direct death toll is 60,000, the actual number of those killed as a result of the Israeli attacks has been calculated to be more likely in the region of 280,000.
Israeli Defence Minister Katz is openly forcing the remaining Gaza population into Rafah. This is not an accusation – it is policy. It is a war crime.
A long delayed long-term permanent solution through the achievement of Palestinian rights has never been more vital in the 76 years of their denial.
But urgent action to feed starving people is also vital.
The Special Rapporteur for the oPt, Francesca Albanese has called for countries, which share of a common border with Gaza around the Mediterranean, to urgently send protected convoys to Gaza.
This could be expanded and reinforced by a mandate from a Uniting for Peace Resolution through an Emergency Special Session of the UN General Assembly to maintain or restore international peace and security.
This could be a genuine lifting of the Israeli blockade.
Of course, Israel would not willingly permit it but Israel has neither the moral nor legal backing to prevent it.
All of humanity has a solemn duty to prevent and punish actions of genocide.
This is not the time for further acquiescence to Israeli genocide. It is the time for concerted action and for your country to take a leadership role in helping stop Israel’s mass killing and mass starvation of Palestinians.

Petition to Palmerston North City Council for Gaza
The Palmerston North-based advocacy group Thyme4Action has launched a campaign calling for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza, and for Palmerston North City Council to adopt an ethical stance by avoiding contracts with companies complicit in the illegal occupation of Palestine.
The group has kicked off their initiative with a community petition urging Council to pass resolutions in support of Gaza and uphold international human rights standards. The petition went live online this week and is already gaining widespread support and community backing

“I want the world to remember who we lost”
Palestinian writer and journalist Yousef Aljamal, who was on a speaking tour to New Zealand in the last two weeks of June this year, had several members of his family killed by Israel two weeks age. He was interviewed by Moana Maniapoto on Te Ao here.
Those who speak up against Israel face grave danger from this genocidal apartheid state. For Yousef the result was an Israeli air strike last week.
Yousef’s niece was murdered in an Israeli airstrike two weeks ago
In Yousef’s words:
On August 6, at around 3:00 a.m., an Israeli airstrike hit the apartment where my sister Somaiya, 35, her husband Anas, 35, and their daughters Noor, 14, Hoor, 13, and Sham, 9, were staying. The airstrike killed my sister’s family except for Noor, who survived with an arm fracture that required surgery. When Noor was admitted to the hospital on August 8 and rushed to the operating room, she called out to her parents, who were gone forever.

STICKER! STICKER! BARCODE! BARCODE!
(Stickering the barcode makes it difficult to scan these products for sale)
With the huge effort leading up to the National Day of Action there was less activity on SodaStream this week but get yourselves geared up for action in the next few weeks and remember when you take action, tell us your stories and send us your pics and videos for the PSNA Newsletter at sodastreamboycott@psna.nz(Stickering the barcode makes it difficult to scan these products for sale)
The Warehouse in Hornby has relocated all the SS to a central location under visual surveillance by the information desk.
This can not be stickered covertly, an overt approach is required which completely changes the game. More on this coming up…
Remember the Noel Leeming stores are our first selected focus for the PSNA Swap out of Sodastream campaign.
A lesson we learnt from last year's Nobela action was that to be effective we need to target the retailer and not just the product.
Any decision to drop Sodastream products from the shelves will be made by the retailer - not Sodastream.
That retailer is more likely to decide to Swap out of Sodastream if we concentrate pressure on them.
It's only by making life uncomfortable for the operators of the more than 70 Noel Leemings around the country, will their accountants and brand managers ever decide to drop Sodastream.
Noel Leeming also stocks another BDS target - Hewlett Packard.

And Remember the Sticker Phantom advice on stickering
Stickering products instore is not everybody’s cup of tea but for those keen to increases pressure on companies complicit with Israeli genocide and apartheid here are a few tips from an expert.
Fact: stickering SS products does hurt Israel. I have seen empty SodaSteam bays in both Woolworths & Warehouse stores due to stickering.
Select your target store – Our first focus is Noel Leeming (owned by the Warehouse group) so make that a priority if you have one close by…
Park on the street, never drive into the carpark. Number plate recognition is everywhere.
Wear a hat or cap, rimmed glasses (not sunglasses) & don't look up at the cameras .
Go when it's busy, Easter, Boxing Day sales, Sat/Sun midday.
I prefer not to buy anything but if you do pay cash.
I Individually rip off 10 stickers & place them face down in the palm of my hand, browse around until the SodaStream (SS) zone is clear.
If the SS zone doesn't clear after 10 minutes walk out, better not to get caught.
Target 1: the CO2 box's, flip & sticker the barcode. Press firmly & turn back over.
Target 2: the machines, most expensive first.
Target 3: syrup bottles, spin & sticker the barcode press firmly & turn back around.
Consistency is key, 2-3 week intervals work best.
At Noel Leeming & Harvey Norman, always talk to at least one salesperson before stickering, until then you are a sales target!
If you get caught you will be trespassed, after 700+ stickers I have been trespassed twice. Both times I believe it was number plate recognition, I got lazy & drove in.
When being verbally trespassed never give them your name but never give them a false name, leave promptly and don't go back for a long while (Don’t target stores near you if you will need to shop there! Target stores further away)
Here are the first signs of success with stickering – the company takes the product of the shelves and puts them behind the counter

Kids Rock For Palestine
Young Musicians Raise Their Voices for Gaza’s Children
WELLINGTON, NZ — A group of passionate 11- and 12-year-olds are making noise for a cause close to their hearts. They have organised a fundraiser for Palestine's children where all of the performers are under 18.
On Sunday 24 August, the youth-led fundraiser Kids Rock 4 Palestine will take over Meow on Edward Street from 2pm, with an all-under-18 line-up of bands rocking out in support of Palestinian children trying to survive Israel's genocide.
Acts on the bill include local rising stars The JayJs, Lux, Burnt Indigo, and Rocktopus, proving that age is no barrier to using music as a form of protest and compassion.
Organised by a group of intermediate-aged students, the event aims to raise funds for two trusted New Zealand-based charities: Kiwi Trust for Palestinian Children’s Relief and Convoys of Good.
“We have seen videos and pictures of children just like us in Gaza who have been bombed and shot at and starved,” says Eddie, 12.
“And while the government won't hear our voice, we are still going to make a lot of noise. We are going to rock for Palestine's children and raise as much money as we can for them.”
Since October 2023, over 15,000 Palestinian children have been killed by Israeli military actions, according to human rights and medical organisations. Thousands more are injured, displaced, and orphaned many without access to clean water, electricity, food, or medical care.
Kids Rock 4 Palestine is a powerful statement of solidarity from New Zealand’s youth to their peers in Gaza, showing that empathy and activism can start at any age.
All proceeds from ticket sales and donations on the day will go directly to aid efforts supporting children on the ground in Palestine. These are the charities: Convoys of Good and Kiwi Trust for Palestinian Childrens Relief.

Photojournalism Travelling Exhibition appeal
By far, the most dangerous place in the world for a journalist is Gaza. Israel has targeted and slain at least 250 brave people over the past two years, nearly all Palestinians, who were telling the story of Israeli atrocities to the world.
PSNA would like to host a travelling photographic exhibition through Aotearoa in memory of all those who have been murdered, but in particular as a testament to the work of Hassan Aslih and Fatma Hassouna both who died this year.
If you have skills in event management, and in particular photography exhibitions, we would love to hear from you, so we can set up a small team to make it happen.

Fast Against Starvation
This message is an invitation to engage in a fast against starvation in Gaza or, if you have already engaged in such a fast, to share your name in a consolidated roll with others around the world who have also done so.
Our aim is to bring together people who share the conviction that the suffering in Gaza must stop and who wish to join others to express this conviction clearly, in a single voice.
You can join by going to www.fastagainststarvation.org. Please note that this campaign does not involve money and no donations are being sought. It is not seen as an alternative to other actions that people may take. It is open to people of all religious and cultural backgrounds and political perspectives.
Further details can be found on the website and below. Please feel free to share this email as you consider appropriate.

Put Your Soul on Your Hand and Walk
This documentary from Iranian director Sepideh Farsi captures life in Gaza during the Israeli military bombardment, largely through Farsi’s video calls with Palestinian photojournalist Fatima Hassouna. Tragically, just one day after Put Your Soul on Your Hand and Walk was announced for Cannes Film Festival 2025, Hassouna - and nine members of her family - were killed in an Israeli airstrike. It’s an on-the-ground confrontation with the impact of war, and now exists as a heartbreaking time-capsule of one journalist’s bravery in the face of mass violence.

Remember possible action for local groups
For groups affiliated to PSNA we suggest the following actions could be taken at any time in support of this campaign
Asking your local backpacker accommodation to display the poster and draw it to the attention of any Israeli soldiers here on “rest and recreation” from the genocide.
Pasting the hotline poster (use the version in this newsletter which includes a contact email) around the vicinity of backpacker venues in your local area. This is already happening in some areas.
Hand out flyers to people in the vicinity of your local backpackers
Contact us on the hotline if you come across Israeli soldiers

We will need some serious money to make our campaign as effective as possible. For example, we will need somewhere in the vicinity of $25,000 to bring speakers to New Zealand over the next year and organise large public meetings to help spread the message.
You can help. Are you able to donate a cup of coffee a month to the campaign? In other words, can you afford to make an automatic payment of $5 per month to support the Palestinian struggle? (If you can afford more that would be great!)
