The Balfour Declaration

The Balfour Declaration was a declaration made by a British lord, Lord Balfour, on behalf of the British goverrnment in Europe, to a Jewish Lord, Lord Rothschild, promising him that they could have a country in the land in Palestine in the Middle East. A land with a more than 70% Palestinian Population at that time.

November 2nd, 1917

Dear Lord Rothschild,

I have much pleasure in conveying to you, on behalf of His Majesty's Government, the following declaration of sympathy with Jewish Zionist aspirations which has been submitted to, and approved by, the Cabinet.

"His Majesty's Government view with favour the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people, and will use their best endeavours to facilitate the achievement of this object, it being clearly understood that nothing shall be done which may prejudice the civil and religious rights of existing non-Jewish communities in Palestine, or the rights and political status enjoyed by Jews in any other country."

Only Racism at that time could allow anyone to think that they had the right to give away another groups homeland.

This was Never discussed with the people who made up the vast majority of the people living in Palestine. Even though there was a Palestinian council speaking up for Palestine.

What has consistently been ignored is the condition included in that declaration:

it being clearly understood that nothing shall be done which may prejudice the civil and religious rights of existing non-Jewish communities in Palestine”.

Britain, and indeed the world given it’s Partition Plan” has an Obligation to turn back the tide to 1948 and ensure that Palestinian Human Rights are respected and to right the wrongs done to the Palestinian people over more than 75 years.

The Nakba of 1948, and onwards, is a stain on the face of the UN for Refusing to ensure the Palestinian Human Rights were respected at that time through to today were Israel is undertaking a Genocide in Gaza.
